General Settings manage profile, response completion notifications, and interface appearance. They affect how your name, avatar, timezone, preferences, notifications, theme, and fonts appear in DEEIX Chat.
Entry Point#
Open Settings from the sidebar or user menu, then choose General. The General page is organized into Profile, Notifications, and Appearance.
Some profile fields show Save and Reset actions, such as username, display name, avatar, timezone, and conversation preferences. Appearance settings usually apply immediately and are saved to the current account in the background.
Profile#
Profile settings define how the account appears and which default habits should guide later usage.
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Avatar | Click the avatar to open the editor. Use an avatar URL or click the avatar area to generate a pixel-style avatar. |
| Username | Used to identify the account. It can only be set once and must follow length and character rules. |
| Display name | The name shown in the interface. Use a nickname or a name teammates can recognize. |
| Timezone | Affects time display for conversations, files, subscriptions, and account records. |
| Conversation preferences | Long-term style, language habits, output format, or workflow preferences used as context for later conversations. |
After changing profile fields, click Save to submit them. Reset restores the last saved state.
Avatar#
The avatar can use an image URL, or DEEIX can generate a pixel-style avatar. URL avatars can be previewed in the dialog before saving.
If the avatar image cannot load, the interface falls back to the first letter of the username or display name. Avatar changes affect display only; they do not change login credentials, permissions, or chat content.
Username and Display Name#
Username identifies the account and is usually set only once. If the field becomes read-only, the account has already completed username setup.
Display name is for everyday display and should be easy for you and teammates to recognize. It must stay within the allowed length; the page shows an error when it is too short or too long.
Changing username or display name does not rewrite historical chat messages or message text already captured in share links.
Timezone#
Timezone affects visible time formatting, such as file upload time, conversation update time, subscription periods, account sessions, and security verification expiry.
If you work across regions, choose your main work location or the timezone your team uses. Timezone changes only affect display; they do not change when events actually happened.
Conversation Preferences#
Conversation preferences are for long-term habits: concise answers, preferred Chinese or English, output format, common business background, or default workflow expectations.
They are not a required prompt for every turn and are not the highest-priority platform rule. Treat them as personal usage habits. For task-specific requirements, still write them in the current prompt or project instructions.
Response Completion Notifications#
Response completion notifications send a browser notification when a model response finishes. They are useful for tool calls, research tasks, long writing, or any reply that may take time.
When enabled, the browser asks for notification permission. Notifications work only when the browser supports them and permission is granted. If permission was denied, allow notifications manually in browser site settings.
When the current page is already focused, an extra notification is usually unnecessary. Notifications are most useful when you switch to another window or wait in the background.
Appearance#
Appearance controls the visual style of the interface. Changes apply immediately and are saved to the current browser and account preference.
| Item | Options |
|---|---|
| Theme preset | Default, Azure, Cobalt, Graphite, Lagoon, Ink, Ochre, Sepia. |
| Color mode | Light, Dark, System. |
| Font size | Small, Standard, Medium, Large. |
| Chat font | Default, Serif, Sans, Mono. |
| Chat font weight | Regular, Medium, Semibold, Bold. |
Theme presets affect overall color and mood. Color mode decides light or dark display. Font size changes overall reading density. Chat font and weight mainly affect how conversation content reads.
Saving and Sync#
Profile changes are saved to the account. Appearance settings are written to the current browser first and then saved to account preferences in the background. After signing in on another device, DEEIX tries to restore the account appearance preferences.
If a browser already has local appearance preferences, it may show them briefly before account data refreshes. After clearing browser data, local notification and appearance preferences may need to be set again.
Practical Tips#
On first use, set display name, timezone, and conversation preferences before adjusting theme and fonts. Enable response completion notifications if you often wait for long tasks. For reading and review work, prioritize comfortable font size, chat font, and font weight.
